Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 June 2026

The short version. The Aikui app collects no personal data. There are no ads, no third-party SDKs, no analytics, and no tracking inside the app. Your game lives on your device. The only data that ever leaves your device goes to Apple's own services (Game Center, iCloud, and the App Store) when you choose to use them, governed by Apple's privacy policy, never to us. This website uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that collect no personal data. The details are below.

1. Who we are

Aikui ("the app") is made by Didstopia (Pauli Jokela), based in Finland. For the limited matters described in this policy, Didstopia is the data controller. You can reach us any time at support@didstopia.com.

This policy explains how Aikui handles information, what the app does and does not collect, and the rights you have. It applies to the Aikui app and to this website at aikui.app. Because we are established in the EU and our data processing is minimal, we are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer or an EU representative.

2. What data the app collects

Aikui is offline-first and privacy-first by design. The app itself does not collect personal data and sends nothing to us. Your puzzles, progress, statistics, and settings are stored locally on your device.

InformationHow it is handled
Game progress and statisticsStored locally on your device, and kept in sync across your devices through your own private iCloud account when you are signed into iCloud. Free, and we cannot read it.
Purchases (Aikui Pro)Handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We receive only the fact that an unlock is active, never your name, card, or payment details.
Game Center scores and streaksManaged by Apple's Game Center and tied to your Apple Account, only if you sign in. Optional, and never required to play.
Name, email, contacts, location, photos, advertising identifiersNot collected. Not requested. Not used.

Because the app collects no personal data, its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected". You can confirm this on Aikui's App Store page.

3. Apple services we rely on

Aikui uses a small number of Apple's own services. When you use them, Apple processes the related data under Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours. We do not receive a copy.

Game Center
Powers the optional leaderboards (per-difficulty solve and mastery boards) and the depth-ranked Daily Puzzle competition. If you sign in, your Game Center identity and scores are handled by Apple and linked to your Apple Account. Sign-in is optional and you can play the whole game without it.
iCloud and CloudKit
When you are signed into iCloud, your game progress and statistics are stored in your own private iCloud database so they move between your devices automatically. Sync is free and on by default; you can turn it off for Aikui at any time in iOS Settings, under your name, iCloud. Your data stays in your Apple account and we have no access to its contents.
App Store and StoreKit
The one-time Aikui Pro purchase and Restore Purchases are processed by Apple. No payment information reaches us.
On-device diagnostics
Aikui may use Apple's on-device frameworks to keep the app stable. Any such diagnostics stay on your device and are not transmitted to us.

4. Lawful bases (GDPR)

Because we do not collect personal data, there is very little for us to process. To the limited extent that any processing happens (for example, delivering the app and your one-time purchase, or keeping the app stable), we rely on the performance of our agreement with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and on our legitimate interest in providing a working, reliable app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). When you use an Apple service such as Game Center or iCloud sync, you are choosing to use that service through your own Apple Account, and the related processing happens on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and is carried out by Apple. You can withdraw that consent at any time: for Game Center by signing out, and for iCloud sync by turning iCloud off for Aikui in iOS Settings or by signing out of iCloud.

5. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data, because we do not collect it. The Aikui app contains no advertising networks, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not share data with any advertising or third-party artificial-intelligence services, and we do not profile you or make automated decisions about you. The only external services the app involves are Apple's, described above, which you use directly through your own Apple Account. The single exception, limited to this website rather than the app, is the privacy-friendly analytics described in section 11, which collects no personal data.

6. Children's privacy

Aikui is a general-audience puzzle game suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There are no ads, no behavioral profiling, and no third-party tracking. Any Apple services used (Game Center, iCloud) are governed by the family's Apple Account and Apple's parental controls, such as Screen Time and Ask to Buy. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, contact us and we will help, although by design there is nothing for us to hold.

7. Retention and deletion

Game data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Deleting Aikui removes its local data from that device. Data synced through iCloud lives in your own iCloud account and is managed through iOS Settings. Game Center data is managed by Apple through your Apple Account. Because we hold no personal data on our own servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. Requests to delete data held by Apple are made through Apple at privacy.apple.com.

8. International transfers

We do not transfer personal data internationally because we do not collect any. To the extent Apple processes data for Game Center, iCloud, or the App Store, those transfers are governed by Apple's own safeguards and privacy policy.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Since we hold no personal data about you, most of these rights are exercised directly with Apple for any data tied to your Apple Account, or simply by managing or deleting the app on your device. If you ever have a question or request, email support@didstopia.com and we will respond, free of charge, normally within one month.

If you are in the EU or EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto), tietosuoja.fi.

10. California privacy rights

Aikui does not collect, sell, or share personal information as those terms are used under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, and similar United States state privacy laws. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no "sale" or "sharing" of personal information to opt out of, because none takes place, so no "Do Not Sell or Share" mechanism is needed. California residents, and residents of other US states with privacy laws, retain the rights to know, delete, and correct, all of which are satisfied by our no-collection approach.

11. This website

This website sets no cookies, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to dismiss. To understand how the site is used, we run Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect or store personal data, and does not track you across websites, devices, or apps. It records only aggregate, anonymized counts such as the page visited, the referring site, and your browser, operating system, device type, and approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your IP address, which is never stored. Because no personal data is collected and no cookies are set, no consent banner is required. Plausible processes and stores all of this data within the European Union and acts as our data processor. See Plausible's Data Policy and Privacy Policy.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. As our hosting provider, GitHub may process standard server information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, in the same way any web server does. We do not access or retain these server logs. See GitHub's privacy statement for details.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the new version here. Material changes will be reflected in the app's update notes where appropriate.
